1 - How do I compute mdev?

    the value of mdev doesn't seem to be well defined in
    the ping man page and so you may just compute the stddev
    if you wish (so that you don't have to remember individual
    times).  If you have computed mean absolute dev already
    that will be OK to.

2 - Should I print out other ICMP messages (such as caused
    by TTL reaching 0 and my ping being discarded).
