Policy 1. Timeliness. All work is due at the begining of class of the due date. Each 24 hours counts as one day late (In summer, it counts as 2 days late). Daily homework will not be accepted late except by prior permission. See link for more information on homework grading.
Policy 2. Testing. Students are responsible for developing their own test cases. This is part of the homework and milestone assignments.

Policy 7. [CP SC 212]. Use of API is prohibited. This class is about developing ideas and fundamental concepts. You may not use any software that you did not write, including the JAVA API.
Policy 8. Semester Grades. This page explains how I set the grading policies and why the points are distributed as they are.
Policy 9. Milestones. In classes with milestones, evey project must be submitted for every milestone. For example, in CP SC 428/628, the semester is broken into several milestones. To gain gain credit for milestone N+1, you must have submitted your project for the tests for milestone N. In the event that the time limit has expired on milestone N, you must still submit for the testing.
Policy 10. Policies on unexcused missed and late exams and assignments. No makeups. Assignments are due at the beginning of class. Late arrival after assignments are picked up is late.
Policy 11. Policies on excused missed and late exams and assignments. Excused absences are given for University sponsored activities. You must have a prior approval by me and a letter signed by an adminstration or faculty member. Schedule for finishing work will be derived on a per case bases. I try to accomodate legitimate activities like interview trips; please remember that the work is still due.
Policy 12. Policies on attendance, tardiness, class participation, and classroom decorum. I expect you to behave as mature adults. Turn off your cell phone. Tardiness without a rational explanation is to be avoided. Continual unpreparedness will result is low daily grades. While I prefer to be informal, we are not sitting at a bar drinking a cool brew.
Policy 13. Policies on academic integrity, including collaborative work. I am a strong supporter of discussion among students but I expect programs to be done individually. Please discuss among yourselves what goes on in class, homework, etc. That having been said, I am 100% intolerant of cheating!!! I prosecute!!! By the way, I am on the Student-Faculty Grievance Committee which deals with, among other things, cheating. Read Department's Honesty Policy. See also the University policy.
Policy 14. Policies and procedures on lab safety, etc. No special instructions.
