Keith Sedgewick (December 1992) This is my first Ponderosa Pine. This is the one I got two years ago at the national ABS convention in Park City, Utah. This is the one Dan Robinson brought with him. It was collected somewhere in Colorado. Dan said it was about 135-140 yrs old. The picture here doesn't do it justice. The tree has a lot of depth in the canopy. It sort'a looks like an umbrella, and all the secondary branches are very twisty, gnarly looking. I think the best feature of this tree will be its bark. This is the second year in the training box. I think it has a large long root about the size of the trunk that extends out to the right. I plan to find a large bonsai pot next year and repot it.
