Team 15. Abhijith Tirumala Kumala and Sumalatha Reddy, CU Discussion Portal
Abstract:
CU Discussion Portal is an online discussion site and can be viewed as the modern equivalent of a traditional bulletin board, aimed at promoting discourse on a specific topic, or a range of topics. The site provides a platform for users sharing common interests, intending to put forward ideas, voice their opinions, raise queries or even debate on a topic. Our Discussion Portal contains generic forums driven and updated by the registered users, and governed by moderators who have the right to edit and delete the messages which are posted. Users are not just limited to posting text comments, but can further reach out by uploading and sharing multimedia such as pictures, audio and video in their comments. Each user is provided with a personalized homepage and given an option of adding other users as friends. Users can manage his/her friends list and can leave the friend a message by posting on their wall. Another interesting feature is the concept of tag clouds coupled with the search feature the site incorporates, which keeps the user updated on the most discussed topics and top areas of interest. Overtime these topics of discussion turn into an open warehouse of knowledge with the main advantage, that user can join and read the forums at any time convenient to them and also catch up with messages already posted.

Our projects goal is to provide a stepping stone from the familiarity of social networking to the unknown of another project.
