RAND_MAX

Description

This game is modeled after a kind of popular japanese game genre called "Danmaku" (DON-Mah-Ku). As is typical, the player is inundated with bullets being shot at them with the end goal being to destroy all enemies. Rather than being very quick, danmaku games like RAND_MAX tend to require a persistence, patience, and keen eye for patterns that will allow them to survive the onslaught. This game may be too difficult for casual gamers. You have been warned.

Instructions

In order to better immerse the player into the game, we have made the controls very simple.
Movement is controlled by the arrow keys.
The Z key is used to fire a straight and fast shot.
The X key is used to fire another, more broad and slower bullet type.
The Q key or Escape key may be used to go through screens and quit the game.

  • The game in its current state includes:

    • Complete engine.
    • 2 types of "shots" or bullets: Straight and fast, and broad and slower
    • Music and sound effects
    • Boss movement dependant upon the character position
    • 2 Boss Attack types. (Play and you'll see.)
    • 1 Level of Difficulty. Again, we warned you.

  • We are planning on expanding and creating more levels, shot types, and fitting music.
