6500 is a video game designed and implemented by Brian Malloy and Cory Buckley at Clemson University. The game was originally developed as a project in a course, CpSc 416, using the C++ language and the Simple Directmedia Layer (SDL). The game has since been re-implemented using Python and Pygame.
The name of the game derives from the fact that some people believe that the planet Earth first came into existence about 6500 years ago. The protagonist in the world of 6500 is Pter, a quirky super powered pteradactyl. Pter lives peacefully with his friends and the other dinosaurs until aliens from a distant planet invade prehistoric earth. Pter teams up with his friends to stop the aliens from stealing their home and disrupting the promising future of planet earth.
