Assignment #3
CpSc 481/681: Game Engine Construction
Computer Science Department
Clemson University
Brian Malloy
Sprite Animation
October 18, 2001

This assignment will be due Thursday, October 25th. It is possible that the presentations will extend through to October 30th. But try to be prepared for the 25th.

Starting on October 25th, each team of gamers will share with us the current state of their game, and the future direction that the game will take. I now realize that it's impossible for me to list specific minimum requirements, since you're all designing different games - I think that's great. Variety is the spice of life and the more you deviate from the Parberry template, the more you will learn about building a game engine.

I will still provide the following list of minimum functionality, with the understanding that it is not meaningful to many of you.

  1. At least 3 moving sprites, with at least one sprite moving at a different speed than the other,
  2. One sprite that is controllable by the user using the arrow keys: left arrow the sprite moves faster, etc.,
  3. All sprites should use clipping,
  4. your sprites should wrap around, that is, they should not permanently disappear when they go off the screen,

I'm very much looking forward to hearing each of you present the ``state-of-the-art'' for your particular game. The presentations will give each game team an opportunity to share insights and techniques that they have discovered with the goal to helping us all move forward in constructing our game.
