General Green is a fast paced platform game designed to keep adrenaline pumping, and allowing players to learn what objects and behaviors are benefical(or detrimental) to the environment.
The player will control General Green as he navigates each level of the game. General Green's goal is to collect as many helpful items as he can while avoiding the harmful items as they move across the screen. Each item will affect General Green's environmental footprint in either a positive or negative way and it's up to the player to learn which is which (with a little help at the beginning of course).
This is the main menu screen brought up when you first enter the game. The options on the screen (Start, Options, High Scores, Exit) will be selectable by using the arrow keys and hitting enter to select. When selected, the label will change from white to yellow and the first letter of the option will enlarge.

A good portion of the gameplay of the game is derived from the
player's ability to control the character and his movements.
The basic movements of the character are running and jumping, or
horizontal and vertical movement. Horizontal movement is
relatively simple and works the same in the air and on the
ground. Jumping, however, is a little more complicated. Jumping
straight from the ground will yield a medium sized jump which
can be lengthened by pressing the jump button rapidly.
Further vertical movement can be achieved by landing on
platforms that appear randomly on either side of the screen and
scroll to the opposite side.

The object of the game will be to stay alive for either
a time period or until you reach the top of the level.
In order to stay alive, you will have to keep your carbon
footprint low by avoiding the bad harmful things and
collecting the helpful things.

The difficulty in the game lies in avoiding the dangerous items.
Such items will harm your carbon footprint and make the ground
and background appear darker. Perhaps they will make you move
sluggishly as well.
Once your carbon footprint reaches a certain "death" point,
you will have a few seconds to redeem yourself by gaining a
helpful item before you actually die.
Simple high scores table that keeps track of the top 5 players on your system. "Rank", "Score", and "Name" will be in gold and the background will be black. All of the other text on the screen will be green.
The credits screen will be the platforms scrolling across the screen with each of our names riding on top of them. The platforms will loop indefinitely until either the player presses the 'ESC' key or for a certain of time. The background image will be similar to the first level's background.
