The 25th ACM Symposium on Applied Computing

Wireless Sensor Networks and Applications Track

22 - 26 March 2010, Sierre, Switzerland

Background

Pervasive computing enthusiasts envision a world in which a transparent and reactive compute fabric is seamlessly woven through everyday experience. Over the past decade, this vision has begun to take shape -- from science fiction sidebars to practical and useful technologies. The key enabler has been the rapid advancement and adoption of wireless sensor network technology. These networks, composed of tiny computing elements that sense, process, and communicate environmental stimuli, provide previously unachievable levels of visibility into, and control of, the physical world.

Topics of Interest

The Wireless Sensor Networks and Applications (WSNA) Track at SAC 2010 is designed to attract diverse participation from researchers and practitioners working at the leading edge in wireless sensor network development. This necessarily covers a broad spectrum of topics, representative of the cross-cutting nature of the area -- from hardware architecture, to operating system design, to algorithms and program comprehension. We solicit original and unpublished manuscripts on various aspects of wireless sensor network development, including (but not limited to) the following topics:

  1. -Low-power hardware architectures

  2. -Scalable and fault-tolerant communication protocols

  3. -Embedded operating systems

  4. -Programming language abstractions

  5. -Data processing, dissemination, and aggregation algorithms

  6. -Program comprehension technologies

  7. -Software and hardware development tools

  8. -Applications and systems

  9. -Middleware

  10. -Time synchronization

  11. -Network modeling and simulation

Submission of Manuscripts

Submissions must be at most 8 pages (8.5in x 11in), formatted using the ACM Proceedings template (available at http://www.acm.org/conferences/sac/sac2010/downloads10.htm). Papers that do not meet size and formatting requirements will be returned without review. Accepted papers will be presented at SAC 2010 and included in the symposium proceedings (indexed in the ACM Digital Library). Accepted papers can be at most 5 pages long, although authors will have the option of purchasing up to 3 additional pages at $80 per page.

The review process will be double-blind. Submitting authors must omit their names and contact information, including on the first page of the manuscript. Self-citations must also be expressed in the third person.

Please submit manuscripts using the online submission system (http://sac.cs.iupui.edu/sac2010).

Best Paper Awards

Two manuscripts will be selected by the program committee to receive best paper awards. The selected papers will be featured in a forthcoming issue of the International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks.
