Course Grading
Attendance Students are expected to attend every class, but are allowed a total of 2 unexcused absences throughout the semester. After the second unexcused absence, students will receive a 5% deduction from their final grade per unexcused absence. An absence will be excused only with a valid, written, medical, or university excuse. If you must miss a class, it is your responsibility to get any missed lecture notes, handouts, and assignments from your fellow students. As a courtesy to me, when you do attend class, please show up on-time. If I am more than fifteen minutes late to class, you should assume that I am dealing with an emergency, and will not be able to make it to class. In such a rare case, class is automatically canceled, and you are free to leave. Late Deliverables / Missed Presentations All deliverables must be submitted at the beginning of the class period on their due date. Late work will not receive any credit. Similarly, failure to attend class on the day of a scheduled presentation or exam will result in an automatic zero for the work. If a student arrives late on the day of a scheduled presentation or exam, they will be allowed to participate, but will not be given additional time to compensate for being tardy. Make-up work will be granted only with a valid, written, medical, or university excuse. It is the student’s responsibility to give me the written excuse and to arrange for the make-up work within one week of the absence. Academic Integrity In accordance with the Clemson University Code of Student Conduct, academic dishonesty of any kind will be reported to the Clemson University Academic Integrity Committee. In the event that the committee reaches a finding of guilt, the student(s) involved in the misconduct will receive an automatic ’F’ for the semester. Class Participation This is a discussion-oriented course. For us to maximize the benefit of our time together, students are expected to actively engage in classroom discussions. Learning and Feedback If you are having difficulties with the course material, or would like to suggest improvements to the course, please do not hesitate to make an appointment with me to chat. Disability Access It is the policy of Clemson University to provide, on a flexible and individualized basis, reasonable accommodations to students who have disabilities. Students are encouraged to contact Student Disability Services to discuss their individual needs for accommodation. |
